New director for both Anesthesiology

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine would like to recognize the stellar work of Dr. Rob Anderson, who is completing his tenure as the Program Director for both the Anesthesiology and Family Practice Anesthesia (FPA) programs on December 31, 2018, having led them for the past decade. Dr. Anderson first took on the role of Regional Director for the University of Ottawa’s Northern Stream Anesthesiology program, administered through NOSM, as well as the School’s own PGY3 FPA program in 2009. NOSM Board Meeting Rooted in the North

NOSM held its annual face-to-face Board of Directors meeting in Sudbury, Ontario on November 22 and 23, 2018. During the two-day meeting, Board members participated in several presentations and interactive sessions which included topics relating to the role of social accountability in an academic institution and the need for culturally-safe health-care services. NOSM seeks agency applicationsfor Summer Studentship Program

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) announces today that agencies may apply for funding to have health-care students work at their organization during the summer of 2019. This funding is available through NOSM’s Summer Studentship Program, which was established by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care to allow a limited number of regulated health-care students an opportunity to gain relevant work experience in their field of study. Electric vehicle donationsupports NOSM researchers

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) recently installed an electric vehicle (EV) charging station. The EV station, generously donated by Bruce Power, has been installed outside NOSM’s medical school building at Laurentian University in Sudbury. This initiative is part of Bruce Power’s $5 million investment in funding to establish and support the Bruce Power Centre for Health, Environment and Radiation at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine. NOSM appoints new Director of Indigenous Affairs

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Joseph LeBlanc as the Director of Indigenous Affairs, effective October 15, 2018. LeBlanc is a life-long Northern Ontarian and member of Wiikwemkoong Unceded Territory. Passionate about community health and well-being, he has experience working for a diverse range of organizations, including academic institutions, Indigenous organizations, charities and non-profits.
