Physician Tracking Studies
Data Stewardship of NOSM University’s Longitudinal Studies
In September 2019, NOSM University assumed responsibility for data collection and storage for the Tracking Study of NOSM University students and Residents, and the Graduate Outcomes Survey, previously collected and stored by the Centre for Rural and Northern Health Research (CRaNHR) – Laurentian for NOSM University. Given that the purpose of these multi-year, multi-method studies are to measure and understand the impact of NOSM University, NOSM University hopes to assemble a complete longitudinal dataset of past and current students and graduates for research purposes.
The conditions under which these data are collected and stored are governed by Research Ethics Boards (REBs) at Laurentian University and Lakehead University. NOSM University has taken measures to ensure that participation in the survey, survey responses, and whether or not consent is given to transfer data to NOSM University will not be used to assess the academic performance of NOSM University medical students or residents.
