Application Information
All applications for admission to the six Ontario medical schools are submitted through the Ontario Medical School Application Service (OMSAS). To apply to NOSM University, applicants must register and create an account with OMSAS. The OMSAS application opens in mid-July. The application deadline is the first week of October for admission the following September.
NOSM University reserves the right to review and change the admissions requirements at any time without notice. Please monitor our website for up-to-date information.
All documents and application materials must be submitted through OMSAS. Candidates will be assessed solely based on materials submitted to OMSAS by the application deadline. Addendums or supplemental materials sent directly to NOSM University will be destroyed.
Please be aware that application deadlines are strictly enforced. All required documentation must be provided by the specified deadlines as outlined on the OMSAS website. Applicants who fail to comply with application deadlines and/or requirements will be disqualified.
NOSM University does not hold applications from one year to the next. Unsuccessful applicants will be required to re-apply through OMSAS with a new application for the following admission cycle.
NOSM University does not provide individual feedback or review applications for unsuccessful applicants. Applicants are encouraged to complete a self-evaluation using online resources and information. Please visit our Selection Process and Information for Unsuccessful Applicants webpages.
If applicants still have questions after reviewing all the information on the website, please join a virtual chat with an Admissions Officer. Available dates and times are listed on our Chat with an Admissions Officer webpage. Individual direct feedback (i.e. scores) will not be provided; however, the Admissions Officer will be able to go over the application process and requirements and discuss how an application is evaluated.
Ontario Medical School Application Fee Waiver Pilot Program (2024-2025)
If applying to medical school is a significant financial burden, consider applying to the Ontario Medical School Application Fee Waiver Pilot Program and save approximately $600.00.
This program subsidizes the application costs for up to three (3) Ontario medical schools for the 2024-2025 application cycle. This program was collaboratively developed by the Association of Faculties of Medicine in Canada (AFMC), the Council of Ontario Faculties of Medicine (COFM), the Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC), and Price of a Dream (POD).
Applications open on June 27, 2024 and close on August 22, 2024. More eligibility information can be found here. Questions can be directed to AFMC (service@afmcstudentportal.ca) or the POD (mdpriceofadream@gmail.com).
Falsification of Application Information
NOSM University reserves the right to determine the veracity of any and all statements in an application.
If it is discovered that any application information is false or misleading, or that information has been concealed or withheld, the application will be disqualified; or, if discovered after an offer of admission has been sent, that offer will be withdrawn. If these circumstances are discovered after the student has been admitted into the Medical Program, the student will be required to withdraw from the Program. An applicant so discovered will be barred from applying to NOSM University for five (5) years.
Curriculum Information
Communication information technology is essential to the success of our undergraduate medical program. Many of the learning materials are provided through electronic communications, making full use of the wealth of educational resources available.
Whether they are located in the large regional centres of Thunder Bay and Sudbury or the smallest, most remote communities, students will have the same access to information and educational resources as they would in a large metropolitan teaching hospital.
Further information on NOSM University’s Undergraduate Medical Education (UME) program curriculum and structure can be found on the MD Program webpage.
