NOSM University aims to admit a class whose profile reflects the demographics of the population of Northern Ontario. This aim includes the commitment to recruiting Indigenous and Francophone students, those who have been structurally marginalized, and those with a strong desire to live and work in Northern Ontario or rural and remote areas in the rest of Canada.
All applicants to the NOSM University UME Program are considered for admission through the General Admission Stream unless they have applied to one or more of the following streams:
- Indigenous Admission Stream
- Francophone Admission Stream
- Black Admission Stream
- Military Medical Training Program (MMTP) Stream (paused at this time)
Voluntary Self-Identification
Applicants may voluntarily self-identify in the OMSAS application as:
- Persons of Indigenous ancestry, First Nations, Inuit or Métis
- Francophone
- Persons who identify as Black (African, Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Indigenous, Afro-North American descent or mixed origin and identify with their Black ancestry)
Applicants who self-identify will be considered through the General Admission Stream unless they have applied to one or more of the other admission streams.
