NOSM University is seeking a Research Associate to support the growing research initiatives within Dr. Gilles Arcand Centre for Health Equity (Arcand Centre). The Research Associate will work closely with Centre researchers to build research capacity and collaborative relationships with diverse stakeholders across Northern Ontario.

This position is covered by the Terms and Conditions of the OPSEU Unit 677 Collective Agreement (Unit 2). A copy is available on the NOSM University website.

Responsabilités

Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Participates in planning and the development of research programs and activities across all four pillars of the Centre: community impact, advocacy and leadership, research and innovation, and education.
  • Conducts environmental scans and literature reviews as required.
  • Works with the Centre team and stakeholders to identify emergent research priorities.
  • Participates in the development of research knowledge translation activities.
  • Participates in the development of funding strategies and applications.
  • Works to promote Centre’s activities to external partners and on the Centre’s website.
  • Maintains strong relationships that enable successful collaboration with external partners.
  • Participates on committees and assists with research administration, as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Éducation

  • A Master’s degree in health sciences, health administration, or relevant discipline from a recognized university with Canadian accreditation or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • PhD in a relevant field is considered an asset.
  • Project Management certification is considered an asset.

Connaissances, Compétences et Capacités

  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Significant experience coordinating research projects.
  • Experience working in an education or healthcare/clinical setting is preferred.
  • Experience in applying diverse research methodologies.
  • Experience with research budgeting and workplans.
  • Experience with data analysis and quality improvement cycles.
  • Experience working with Indigenous and Francophone communities and organizations.
  • Demonstrated success in maintaining strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated success in working with dynamic teams.
  • Curiosity and ability to collaborate in a complex and evolving environment.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks and responsibilities.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills to diverse audiences.
  • Good knowledge of university structure, policies and procedures considered an asset.
  • Advanced computer skills including proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel across Northern Ontario. A valid driver’s license is required.

Langue

  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension).
  • French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset.
