Theme 2 Curriculum Committee (Personal and Professional Aspects of Medical Practice) covers professionalism, medical ethics, medico-legal issues, and historical developments related to medicine and health, including the practice of medicine and health in Northern Ontario.

Theme 2 is seeking a physician member who has interest in medico-legal, ethical, and/or patient safety aspects of medical practice, especially as it relates to northern and rural Ontario. Having additional formal education in any of these areas is an asset.

Reporting

The Theme 2 Committee Member reports to the Associate Dean, Undergraduate Medical Education (UME).

Responsabilités

• Attend and participate at all Theme Committee meetings.
• Between Theme Committee meetings:
  • Write/review theme learning objectives;
  • Write/review theme assessment questions and review assessment results; and
  • Review/update theme content in assigned Phase 1 learning module(s).
• Assist with marking Phase 2 (CCC) student projects.
• Act as the Chair designate on different committees as assigned by the Theme Chair.
• Other duties as assigned by Theme Chair.

Qualifications

Éducation

• Doctor of Medicine degree
• Possession of a current license to practice medicine in the province of Ontario

Connaissances, Compétences et Capacités

• Must have (or be eligible for) a faculty appointment with NOSM University
• Preference will be given to faculty residing in Northern Ontario

Langue

• Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension)
• French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset

Remuneration

• As per the stipendiary faculty remuneration process

Time Commitment

• One (1.0) day per month
