How to Apply/FAQs
The NOSM University Internal Medicine program participates in the R-1 Main Residency Match through the Canadian Residency Matching Service (CaRMS). Application to the the program can be found by visiting the CaRMS website at www.carms.ca.
The program accepts applications through the NOSM University Internal Medicine – Thunder Bay Stream and the NOSM University Internal Medicine – Sudbury Stream. Candidates who successfully match to each stream will be required to home-base in the community/stream that they’ve matched to.
Applicants will be considered by the program based on their demonstrated interest in Internal Medicine; academic record; the strength of their references; demonstrated strong interpersonal skills; self-directed learning; and a desire to train in various clinical settings and with health care teams.
These factors are assessed through the following:
- A personal Interview
- The review of the personal letter
- The review of performance assessments from clinical rotations in medical school, particularly during Internal Medicine rotations and/or electives
- The review of letters of reference
