Thunder Bay Release: Physician Assistant Program Celebrates Accreditation Status with Clinical Partner Sites Across Northern Ontario

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) is pleased to announce the Canadian Medical Association (CMA), which accredits Physician Assistant (PA) programs in Canada, has recently undertaken the inaugural accreditation review of the PA program and has accorded accreditation status as of December 2011. The Bachelor of Science Physician Assistant (BScPA) degree is a full-time professional, second-entry undergraduate degree program conferred by the University of Toronto (U of T), and delivered by The Consortium of PA Education. NOSM Celebrates Milestone Achievement for First Royal College of Physician’s and Surgeon’s Residency Program

On June 24, 2012, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) celebrated the completion of training of the School's first Public Health and Preventive Medicine resident, Dr. Janet DeMille. DeMille, who will be working out of the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, is also the first resident to complete a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeon's residency at NOSM. NOSM Announces New Anesthesia Residency Program

On July 1, 2013, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) will welcome its first class of Anesthesia residents training in the School's newest Royal College of Physician and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) program. The five-year program will be based in Sudbury, with learning opportunities in communities including Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, and North Bay, as well as other smaller communities.
