NOSM Board of Directors Celebrates Successful Year

Rooted in the North Using a combination of web- and teleconference connectivity across Northern Ontario, the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) held its Annual Members and Board of Directors meetings on Wednesday, September 19, 2018.In accordance with Board policy, Dr. Alexandre Anawati, Danielle Bélanger-Corbin, Mark Hurst, and Bruce Sutton were reappointed as Directors.   Indigenous populations have stronger immunity to a serious bacterial infection than non-Indigenous populations, regardless of whether they live in an area where the infection is common or uncommon, according to a study published online today in PLOS ONE. Haemophilus influenzae type A (Hia) is a bacterial infection that can lead to serious illnesses including pneumonia, meningitis, sepsis and epiglottitis, all of which can result in permanent disability or death.
