We’re back to class. Whether you are a new MD, dietetic, Master of Medical Studies student or continuing your studies with NOSM University, we welcome you. You are starting on a great adventure of learning and exploring; you are now part of a community that values inclusion and health equity. I hope you have a wonderful journey here at Canada’s first and only independent medical university. A Tour de Force!

This has been an awesome summer! I spent all of it in Northern Ontario, reveling in the sunshine, water and community activities as people emerged from the pandemic and from the heaviness of winter. Like a butterfly from its cocoon, we have all come through some of the most difficult times of our generation yet, we have emerged with a new purpose and new sense of being. Residency and Road Trips

Northern Ontario is full of the warm, bright splendor of the summer season: hot, sometimes humid days and cool summer nights with brilliant hues of pink, purple, yellow, and blue in the skies over our backyards. It’s the perfect time for road trips, both for new residents and myself. Summer is the end of the MD program academic year and the beginning of the postgraduate training year.
