Our Communities
The walls of NOSM University are the boundaries of Northern Ontario that span thousands of kilometres and include Indigenous, Francophone, remote/rural communities, and urban centres. The representative selection below profiles site’s location, history, economy, and health and education resources.
Learners work closely with other health care professionals in a variety of practice settings including large hospitals, small rural hospitals and community practices, Local Health Integrated Network (LHIN) and private practice. Community-based placements are located in Fort Frances, Kenora, North Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sudbury, Thunder Bay, and Timmins, as well as in many smaller centres throughout Northern Ontario.
