Awards/Scholarships/Bursaries

All financial aid including awards, scholarships, and bursaries are first applied to any outstanding fees on the learners account and are generally applied at the beginning of each term.

Please note that financial aid funds will not be deposited to your personal bank account automatically.  If you are calculating your required payment for the Published Due Date(s) of August 15, December 15, and/or May 1, please deduct all awards, scholarships and bursaries to be disbursed for that term from your payment amount. You are required to pay the difference by the published due date. You may view all approved/pending financial aid through the self service portal. If you have questions about your payment amount please contact us via email at accounts@nosm.ca.

I have OSAP, Provincial or Territorial funding/ Awards to cover my FULL balance.

Account holders with confirmed funding to cover their FULL first installment amount will be automatically deferred from the payment due date. Please note if funding or awards are not confirmed by the due date then you will be responsible to make payment in full. Confirmed funding can be reviewed through nosm.ca > Learners > Self-Service > Log in > Account Information > Account Overview/Summary> select term > Financial Aid.

I have OSAP, Provincial or Territorial funding/ Awards to cover only A PORTION of my balance.

Account holders with confirmed funding to cover only a portion of their installment amount will be responsible to remit payment for the remaining balance by the payment due date. Confirmed funding can be reviewed through nosm.ca > Learners > Self-Service > Log in > Account Information > Account Overview/Summary> select term > Financial Aid.

To view pending OSAP and financial aid please visit  nosm.ca > MyNOSM U > Learners > Self-Service > Log in > Account Information > Click on the term > Scroll down and click Financial Aid. There you may see all anticipated funding.  Questions regarding your OSAP, Awards, Bursaries, and Scholarships can be forwarded directly to the Financial Aid Office at financialaid@nosm.ca

How is my OSAP distributed?

OSAP payments to NOSM University learners will now be applied directly to your NOSM University account. Any amount of OSAP that you have been awarded that is above the amount of the first installment of tuition and fees will be sent directly to you.
Example:
OSAP Allocation $15,000
1st Installment − $11,004.11 – applied to NOSM University account
$3,995.89 – sent directly to the learner

Outside of Ontario Learners receiving Provincial, Federal or Territorial funding Notice of Assessment process

All learners residing outside of Ontario that are receiving funding to cover their tuition and registration fees will be required to submit a copy of their Notice of Assessment provided by the funding organization (Ex. Alberta Student aid, British Columbia Student aid) via email to accounts@nosm.ca by the Payment Due Date in order to be deferred and exempted from the $100.00 late payment fee. Please note that a late payment fee will be assessed if funds are not received from your organization by the end of the term.

What is a Provincial, Federal, or Territorial Funding Notice of Assessment?

A Provincial, Federal, or Territorial funding Notice of Assessment (NOA) is a document provided by the funding organization once grants and loans have been approved. The document outlines the confirmed funding amounts, and when they are to be disbursed.

Where can I retrieve this document?

A Provincial, Federal, or Territorial funding Notice of Assessment (NOA) is accessible directly through the funding organizations website (Alberta Student Aid, Manitoba Student Aid, Student Aid BC). Please log in to your Provincial, Federal, or Territorial funding profile and download as a PDF document. All questions regarding retrieving documentation will need to be directed to the funding organization.

What should my Provincial, Federal, or Territorial funding Notice of Assessment include?

A Notice Of Assessment (NOA) needs to include
  1. Learners full name, personal information, active program, institution of study (NOSM U)
  2. Provincial funding  or organization logo/letterhead.
  3. Amount of total approved funding (must indicate the term of study)
  4. Release date of each disbursement.
