Learner Support Services assists with scheduling various types of events, and meetings for the NOSM University UME student interest groups and NOSM U Student Council.

To help facilitate the planning of events the NOSM U Student Interest Group Event Request Form must be completed in full for all requests.

Depending on the event requirements you may be required to complete additional forms (please see below).

NOSM U Student Interest Group Event Request Form

The NOSM U Student Interest Group Event Request Form is used to facilitate planning of student interest group events and to help ensure best use of NOSM University resources for quality student-initiated educational sessions.

To avoid scheduling conflicts, please begin by checking the Learner Support Services Google Calendar. Once you’ve found a free time slot please complete this form. The completed form will automatically be sent to learnersupportservices@nosm.ca. Someone will be in touch soon with details of your booking.

Learner Support Services Speaker Consent Form

NOTE: This form only needs to be completed if you are requesting that the event be recorded, and archived.

The Learner Support Services Speaker Consent Form is used to obtain speaker consent to be recorded so that student interest group presentations can be recorded, and viewed at a later date. It is the responsibility of the student leading the event to obtain this consent from their speaker(s) prior to the event, and have it sent to learnersupportservices@nosm.ca. If Learner Support Services does not receive this consent, the event will not be recorded.

Special Educational Experience (SEE) Skills Enhancement Application and Approval Form

NOTE: This form is required only if your event involves practical activities that are designed to enhance a specified skill (i.e. e.g. venous access, POCUS), and/or includes a hands-on component.

Skills enhancement SEEs are practical activities that are designed to enhance a specified skill e.g. venous access, POCUS. These will normally be organized as a supervised group activity involving more that one student. The Special Educational Experience (SEE) Skills Enhancement Application and Approval Form needs to be completed and signed by the student(s). Approval is to be obtained by the faculty supervisor and the UME Administrative Manager, Educational Resources. Submit completed and signed form to the UME Student Attendance and Electives Coordinator (UMESAEC@nosm.ca) who will obtain appropriate approval from Phase Lead. Student(s) MAY NOT begin SEE before approval is obtained from Phase Director.

Once all approvals/signatures are obtained, please forward a copy of the SEE form to learnersupportservices@nosm.ca.

If Learner Support Services does not receive this form 24 hours or more in advance, the event will be considered unapproved, and will be cancelled in MyEvents, and/or will be removed from the Learner Support Services calendar.

Students interested in pursuing SEE opportunities are required to share the Self-Directed Career Exploration infographic with potential supervisors. This ensures that all parties understand the observership nature of the experience and the educational goals that the program aims to achieve.
