This session will focus on providing a palliative care approach to patients with movement disorders with a goal of empowering primary care providers, specialists and interdisciplinary teams to manage palliative symptoms and pain, communicate with patients and care givers about the trajectory and prognostication of the disorder and identify resources available in Northeastern Ontario when assistance is needed.
Learning Objectives
At the end of this session participants will be able to:
- Discuss illness trajectory and prognostication with patients and their care givers to establish goals of care.
- Identify the unique symptom management considerations for movement disorders.
- Identify key team members to implement an interdisciplinary approach to care.
