NOSM Faculty, Board Ratify Four Year Collective Agreement

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) and the NOSM faculty Union (Unit 1 of OPSEU Local 677) are pleased to announce the ratification of their third collective agreement, covering full time faculty, professional librarians, and professional staff at the School. The faculty Union’s Members voted in favour of the new collective agreement on November 28, and the agreement was ratified by NOSM’s Board of Directors on December 2. The agreement covers four years and is in effect from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2015, and provides for annual wage increases of 1.5 percent in the first two years, followed by 2 percent annual wage ...

NOSM Invites Communities to Contribute to Time Capsules

The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) marked a significant milestone this year – for the first time, NOSM MD Charter Class graduates who have undertaken family medicine residency at NOSM have completed their training and are fully-licensed physicians. The Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) held its Annual Members and Board of Directors meetings on Wednesday, September 14, 2011. These meetings were video-linked between the School’s West Campus at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay and its East Campus at Laurentian University in Sudbury, with other Directors participating via teleconference. Promoting a physically active lifestyle in a fast-paced work environment, such as a call centre, requires creativity and a team effort, according to Sheila Renton, an occupational therapist and faculty member in NOSM’s Division of Clinical Sciences.
